La edición de diciembre siempre es muy especial. El final del año siempre nos invita a una obligada reflexión sobre todo lo que se hizo o se dejó de hacer, nuestros errores y nuestros aciertos; los que se fueron para siempre y dejaron un recuerdo imborrable en nuestras vidas…
El que está por acabar en nuestro querido Vallarta fue el escenario de numerosos eventos, fiestas, aperturas muchos de ellos en beneficio de la comunidad. Desafortunadamente, también llegó la crisis económica y muchas empresas cerraron sus puertas para siempre. Por primera vez vivimos un malecón sin vida a causa de la propaganda negativa surgida como respuesta al nuevo virus H1N1, pero lo más lamentable es, sin duda, la cuestión de la seguridad pública, constantemente frágil, a pesar de la gran inversión que la actual administración ha realizado en esta materia. Del dominio público son las balaceras y persecuciones en nuestra ciudad. No se trata de un film de los muchos que aquí se han realizado. Son la más cruda realidad.
Lo más triste es la poca o nula participación en el tema de la prevención, la no cooperación entre autoridades con nuestro estado vecino, las vidas humanas que se perdieron por culpa de la delincuencia. Pero nuestro corazón debe ser más fuerte que todo esto. Creemos firmemente que Vallarta es más grande que sus problemas, que la férrea voluntad de unos cuantos que verdaderamente aman a Vallarta y velan por el beneficio colectivo, será capaz de contagiar y entusiasmar al resto de la población en pro de paraíso semejante.
Nuestros deseos para esta navidad son que Vallarta recate sus valores, que los empresarios sigan creyendo en este destino y generando nuevas fuentes de trabajo, que las autoridades motiven la inversión y faciliten los trámites, que nuestros visitantes encuentren alegría en los rostros de todos los habitantes, ésta es nuestra carta de buenos deseos para nuestra ciudad y, para ti, querido lector, un sincero agradecimiento por recibir mes a mes esta publicación,
Que el 2010 te traiga mucho amor, salud y prosperidad en armonía para ti y los seres que amas.
Por supuesto, lo mismo deseamos para toda la humanidad. ¡Que así sea!

December is always a special edition for us at The VIP. The closing of the year invites one to reflect upon everything that we accomplished or failed to accomplish in the previous 11 months; ponder our errors and our achievements; recall those who have left us and cherish the mark they have made on our lives.
The year that is coming to a close was the stage for numerous events, parties, grand openings and galas, many of which were for the benefit of the Vallarta community. Unfortunately the economic crisis was also an important factor and as a result many businesses had to shut their doors for good. For the first time we witnessed a boardwalk without tourists due to the negative publicity that arose from the H1N1 virus. But the most negative factor in our opinion is the issue of violent crime. In spite of the considerable investment made by the current city government, the number of gun battles and police chases has not gone down in our fair city. It isn it just a theme of Hollywood movies anymore, it is a harsh reality.
What worries us is the scant participation in terms of preventing crime, the lack of cooperation with authorities in our neighbor to the north, and the resulting loss in lives from organized crime.
But we have to show enough heart and resolve to face this challenge. We firmly believe that Vallarta is greater than the sum of her problems; that the staunch conviction of those of us who truly love Vallarta and who have her collective interest at heart will be capable of inspiring the rest of the population to work towards preserving our tropical paradise.
Our Christmas Wish List this year includes the desire that Vallarta returns to the values of yesteryear, that businessmen and women continue to put their trust in our city and generate new jobs, that civil authorities spur investment and lighten the paperwork involved in starting or running a business and also that the visitors to our wonderful city find joy in the faces that they see on every street. That is our Christmas list for the city. To all of you, our loyal readers who look for us month after month, we send our deepest thanks.
We hope that the year 2010 brings love, health, prosperity and harmony for you and your loved ones.
