Esta oscura película protagonizada por Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Banks, Abbie Cornish y Anna Friel, ha causado gran expectativa. Y recuerden, rostros de Puerto Vallarta aparecerán en el filme, ya que varias escenas son filmadas en escenarios de esta ciudad durante el mes de junio.

Basada en la novela de Alan Glynn, The Dark Fields, cuenta la historia de Eddie Spinola, un chico común y corriente que luego de ingerir una medicina novedosa y ultra secreta descubre como su capacidad cerebral aumenta considerablemente y con resultados insospechados. Gracias a ella, comienza a experimentar éxito financiero y social pero rápidamente descubre que la droga tiene efectos letales, incluyendo un fenómeno en el que el tiempo parece moverse a poca velocidad.Programada para estrenarse en marzo de 2011.

Neil Burger   es el director de esta película, el suspenso es uno de sus géneros predilectos, y como parte de sus proyectos destacados fue el guion y dirección de Interview with an Assassin que ganó el premio por Mejor Película en el Festival de Cine de Woodstock. La más reciente fue El Ilusionista, que fue adaptada del cuento “Eisenheim the Illusionist” de Steven Millhauser  presentada en el Festival de Cine de Sundance y en el Festival de Cine de Seattle.

The role Robert De Niro plays in the filming of the movie “The Dark Fields”, which will illuminate the streets of downtown and La Marina, is evoking some mystery. Versatile and chameleon-like, he is considered one of the most brilliant actors of American cinema. He has played characters of all kinds of genres, including the young Sicilian Mafia boss, Vito Corleone in “The Godfather II”, a mentally disturbed taxi driver named Travis Bickle in “Taxi Driver”, the soldier Michael Vronsky in “The Deer Hunter”, the boxer Jake La Motta in “Raging Bull”, the mafioso Jimmy Conway in “Goodfellas”, a catatonic patient in “Awakenings”, Max Cady, a dangerous ex-convict in “Cape Fear”, and Sam “Ace” Rothstein in “Casino” among many other characters confirming that he is an excellent actor, director and producer.

This dark movie, starring Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Banks, Abbie Cornish and Anna Friel, is creating great expectations. And remember that faces of Puerto Vallarta will appear in the film as several scenes are being filmed in parts of this city during the month of June.

The movie, scheduled for release in March 2011, is based on Alan Glynn’s 2002 novel. It tells the story of Eddie Spinola, a normal, ordinary guy who after taking some new and ultra secret medicine, discovers how his mental capacity increases considerably, leading to quite unexpected results for him.  Thanks to the drug, the leading actor begins to have financial and social success; however, he soon realizes that it has lethal effects, including a phenomenon where time seems to move very slowly.

Neil Burger, who has been involved in experimental cinema during the 1980s, is the director of this movie. Suspense is one of his favorite genres. One of his most outstanding projects was the screenplay and direction of “Interview with an Assassin” for which he won the Best Film award at the Woodstock Film Festival. His most recent movie was “The Illusionist”, adapted from Steven Millhauser’s book “Eisenheim, the Illusionist”, which was presented at the Sundance and Seattle Film Festivals.

It began when she entered the Church of Our Lady of Refuge where her Thanksgiving Mass took place. It continued at the best bar of Vallarta’s boardwalk with a cheerful and elegant reception, offered by her proud parents, Dr. José Luis Bernal and Dr. Mariana Calderon. None of her circle of friends was missing and everybody had a great time until late-night. Astrid is the fifteen year old birthday girl of the season.

Cintia Tiene un sexto sentido para “cazar” las buenas oportunidades, y la que ahora se le presenta es una de ellas: participará en el Reality Show “La Segunda Oportunidad”. No podía econtrarla en mejor momento de su vida ya que, al salir de “La Academia”, siguió preparándose para aprovechar las ofertas de trabajo que le han llovido, así como los castings en los que ha participado para probar suerte en nuevas series de TV. Un poco más madura que cuando se iniciaba y más conciente de sus errores y fallas en el pasado, los cuales ha logrado superar gracias al apoyo incondicional que le ha dado su familia, la niña consentida de Vallarta agradece a Dios este nuevo reto que hoy enfrenta, con mayor visión de lo que quiere y puede lograr, y parte con la firme intención de radicar en la Ciudad de México, donde ya tiene un disco en proceso, aunado a su enorme deseo de incursionar en la actuación. Cintia has a sixth sense for “hunting down” good opportunities, and one of them presents itself right now for her: the oportunity to participate in the Reality Show “The Second Chance”. It could not have come at a better moment in her life because since leaving “La Academia (Mexican Idol)”, she has continued to prepare herself in order to take advantage of the plentiful work offers lavished on her, as well as of the castings she has participared in in order to try her luck in new TV series. Being a little more mature than when she started and more aware of her past mistakes and failures, Cynthia was able to overcome them due to the unconditional support of her family. Vallarta’s sweetheart thanks God for this new challenge she is facing. Now she has a greater vision of what she wants and can achieve, and has the firm intention of settling in Mexico City, where she already has a record in process, coupled with her strong desire to venture into acting. We wish her good luck in the difficult world of show business and are certain that she will triumph.

Miss Betty nos comparte sus memorias con cierta nostalgia y relata como inició el British American School , conocido por todos como ‘‘La Familia British’’ : Hace poco mas de veinte años, mi hija Claudia y su esposo el Arq. Juan Antonio Gutiérrez, llegaron a Puerto Vallarta con mi nieto de dos años de edad y no había en ese tiempo suficientes escuelas de pre-escolar donde inscribirlo. Me llamarón a la Ciudad de México, donde hacia 14 años ya había fundado el primer British , para que me animara y abriera uno aquí en Vallarta. Poco a poco cada año fuimos agregando grupos, y de esta manera fue creciendo este proyecto , logrando una prestigiosa institución educativa trilingüe que se distingue por su formación de seres humanos integrales y, que hoy, cumple 20 años.

Con una sólida planta de maestros nacionales e internacionales, siempre en busca de la excelencia académica y unas instalaciones de primer nivel, los alumnos de ‘‘La Familia British’’, se destacan por el alto nivel cultural y académico que muestran al ingresar a las más exigentes instituciones de educación superior del país y del extranjero. In the words of the founder of the prestigious British American School, Beatriz González de Yrizar, who is fondly referred to by the entire student body as “Miss Betty”, the keys to the success of this school which celebrates its´ twentieth anniversary this month are the highly-trained and motivated faculty and staff, the innovative program of study and above all the trust and participation of each and every family that belongs to the school´s community. That is how they help form individuals who can face any problem with a true sense of social responsibility and understanding.

Miss Betty sat down with VIP and took a walk down memory lane, remembering how the British American School was founded, and how it got its´ reputation as being “ the British FAMILY ”. A little over twenty years ago my daughter Claudia and her husband, the architect Juan Antonio Gutiérrez moved to Puerto Vallarta with my two-year old grandson. At that time they were not enough pre-schools in the area, and decided to call me in Mexico City where I had previously founded 14 years earlier the first British American School in the country. They urged me on to start the school here, and bit by bit each year we were able to add more groups of children. Through the past twenty years we have been fortunate enough to grow into a trilingual institution that stands out for its´ tradition of developing “complete” young men and women with solid values.

The backbone of the school is the faculty filled with teachers from around the globe who constantly strive for academic excellence. The students of this “British Family” are renowned for their high level of culture as well as academic standing. The validation of this excellent system is the acceptance of generations of British American students at the some of the world´s most prestigious colleges and universities. When we asked Miss Betty when she would take her highly deserved retirement from the school, she replied with smile and a determined “NEVER”.

El destacado empresario y periodista, Luis Reyes Brambila dio un histórico y emotivo discurso sobre la trayectoria de Miguel Ángel, la cual inicia en el ramo hotelero turístico y evoluciona al giro de Real Estate, hasta llegar a posicionar su marca inmobiliaria como una de las más importantes del país, con desarrollos en Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Maya, Riviera Nayarit, Acapulco y la Ciudad de México.

Whenever one of our fellow countrymen is successful both inside Mexico and outside our borders, it is a special source of pride. Such is the case with Miguel Angel Lemus, President of Inver-Mexico Real Estate, who recently hosted a glamorous cocktail party packed with real estate executives, businessmen and women and the entire jet set from the region. The motive of celebration was two-fold: to honor 10 years of achievements for the company and also to honor the birthday of its´ president.

The renowned businessman and journalist, Luis Reyes Brambila gave an emotional speech highlighting the remarkable career of Miguel Angel which had its´ origins in the hotel industry and evolved towards the real estate sector, and culminated in the founding of one of the most important real estate brands in the country with properties in Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Maya, Riviera Nayarit, Acapulco and Mexico City.
