Robert De Niro participa con un papel que causa misterio en el rodaje de The Dark Fields que iluminará  las calles del Centro Histórico y La Marina. Es considerado como uno de los actores más brillantes del cine estadounidense, versátil y camaleónico, ha interpretado personajes de toda clase de géneros, en las se encuentran: El joven capo de la mafia siciliana, Vito Corleone, en El Padrino II; Travis Bickle, un perturbado taxista en Taxi Driver; el soldado Michael Vronsky en The Deer Hunter; el boxeador Jake La Motta en Toro salvaje; el mafioso Jimmy Conway, en Goodfellas; un paciente catatónico en Despertares; Max Cady, un peligroso ex-convicto en Cabo de Miedo; y Sam “Ace” Rothstein, en Casino. Entre muchos otros personajes que lo confirman como un excelente actor, director y productor.

Esta oscura película protagonizada por Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Banks, Abbie Cornish y Anna Friel, ha causado gran expectativa. Y recuerden, rostros de Puerto Vallarta aparecerán en el filme, ya que varias escenas son filmadas en escenarios de esta ciudad durante el mes de junio.

Basada en la novela de Alan Glynn, The Dark Fields, cuenta la historia de Eddie Spinola, un chico común y corriente que luego de ingerir una medicina novedosa y ultra secreta descubre como su capacidad cerebral aumenta considerablemente y con resultados insospechados. Gracias a ella, comienza a experimentar éxito financiero y social pero rápidamente descubre que la droga tiene efectos letales, incluyendo un fenómeno en el que el tiempo parece moverse a poca velocidad.Programada para estrenarse en marzo de 2011.

Neil Burger   es el director de esta película, el suspenso es uno de sus géneros predilectos, y como parte de sus proyectos destacados fue el guion y dirección de Interview with an Assassin que ganó el premio por Mejor Película en el Festival de Cine de Woodstock. La más reciente fue El Ilusionista, que fue adaptada del cuento “Eisenheim the Illusionist” de Steven Millhauser  presentada en el Festival de Cine de Sundance y en el Festival de Cine de Seattle.

He has played characters of all kinds of genres, including the young Sicilian Mafia boss, Vito Corleone in “The Godfather II”, a mentally disturbed taxi driver named Travis Bickle in “Taxi Driver”, the soldier Michael Vronsky in “The Deer Hunter”, the boxer Jake La Motta in “Raging Bull”, the mafioso Jimmy Conway in “Goodfellas”, a catatonic patient in “Awakenings”, Max Cady, a dangerous ex-convict in “Cape Fear”, and Sam “Ace” Rothstein in “Casino” among many other characters confirming that he is an excellent actor, director and producer.

This dark movie, starring Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Banks, Abbie Cornish and Anna Friel, is creating great expectations. And remember that faces of Puerto Vallarta will appear in the film as several scenes are being filmed in parts of this city during the month of June.

The movie, scheduled for release in March 2011, is based on Alan Glynn’s 2002 novel. It tells the story of Eddie Spinola, a normal, ordinary guy who after taking some new and ultra secret medicine, discovers how his mental capacity increases considerably, leading to quite unexpected results for him.  Thanks to the drug, the leading actor begins to have financial and social success; however, he soon realizes that it has lethal effects, including a phenomenon where time seems to move very slowly.

Neil Burger, who has been involved in experimental cinema during the 1980s, is the director of this movie. Suspense is one of his favorite genres. One of his most outstanding projects was the screenplay and direction of “Interview with an Assassin” for which he won the Best Film award at the Woodstock Film Festival. His most recent movie was “The Illusionist”, adapted from Steven Millhauser’s book “Eisenheim, the Illusionist”, which was presented at the Sundance and Seattle Film Festivals.
