El auditorio “Dr. Juan Luis Cifuentes Lemus” fue la sede del 3er  informe de actividades del  rector del Centro Universitario de la Costa, el doctor Marco Antonio Cortés Guardado,  destacó el incremento en todas y cada una de las áreas dentro de la institución educativa, entre ellas la matrícula, infraestructura, festival internacional de cine, carreras, personal y equipo técnico, entre otras. “El CUCosta destaca en oferta académica, investigación y vinculación social, junto con CUCEI es el campus con más programas de licenciatura en la Red UdeG”.  Una matrícula de cinco mil 615 alumnos de licenciatura y posgrado, 34 académicos que pertenecen al Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI) del Conacyt, y la ampliación de los programas de difusión cultural y vinculación social que prestan servicio a la comunidad de Vallarta, son algunos de los principales logros alcanzados en el año 2016 por el CUCosta. El Festival Internacional de Cine en Puerto Vallarta (FICPV), en su XVI edición, amplió su alcance no sólo en cuanto al público asistente, sino también en temáticas. El público asistente a las distintas proyecciones del festival, en 15 sedes, incrementó de cuatro mil 898 personas en 2015 a trece mil 745 espectadores en 2016. Destaca el arranque y evolución de las “Brigadas Universitarias”, un programa itinerante que, de forma quincenal, ofrece diversos servicios gratuitos a la población de las comunidades socialmente menos favorecidas de la región. Entre ellas, sobresale la Escuela de Gastronomía Estación Gourmet, donde se espera iniciar cursos de educación continua en junio del presente año. El Informe de actividades 2016 contó con la presencia del Rector general de la UdeG, maestro Itzcóatl Tonatiuh Bravo Padilla; el Vicerrector ejecutivo, doctor Miguel Ángel Navarro Navarro; el Secretario general, licenciado José Alfredo Peña Ramos; el Director regional de la Secretaría de Turismo de Jalisco, licenciado José Ludwig Estrada Virgen; el Secretario general del H. Ayuntamiento de Puerto Vallarta, maestro Víctor Manuel Bernal Vargas; autoridades universitarias e invitados especiales.
