Acné y Cicatrices

El acné es una enfermedad multifactorial que cursa con obstrucción e inflamación crónica del folículo pilosebáceo. Se caracteriza por la formación de comedones, pápulas, pústulas, nódulos y cicatrices, y se localiza en la cara y parte superior del tronco. Entre los factores causales se encuentran la herencia, alteraciones hormonales, algunos alimentos, uso de cremas o productos comedogénicos, mala higiene y estrés. Es una enfermedad principalmente de la adolescencia, afectando al 85% de los adolescentes en mayor o menor grado, sin embargo va en aumento la incidencia de acné del adulto, principalmente en mujeres. En este grupo es mandatorio descartar una causa hormonal. Actualmente se considera una enfermedad crónica, pues su curso es prolongado, con episodios de empeoramiento y remisión, y tiene un impacto social y psicológico que repercute en la calidad de vida del paciente. La tendencia de la dermatología actual es iniciar el tratamiento de forma temprana y lo más efectiva posible para evitar las cicatrices físicas y psicológicas. Existen tratamientos muy efectivos tópicos y orales, el dermatólogo determinará la mejor opción según la extensión y severidad del caso. Las cicatrices persistentes o hiperpigmentaciones residuales son secuelas frecuentes, pero afortunadamente ahora se cuenta con múltiples opciones para tratarlas como peelings, subincisiones, rellenos y tecnología novedosa como el Laser CO2 fraccionado.
